Regenerative Agriculture & Soil Health Monitoring

Why Healthy Soil is the Foundation of Sustainable Farming

Did you know that over 50% of the world’s agricultural soil is degraded due to unsustainable farming practices? The Regenerative Agriculture & Soil Health Monitoring service-learning project at Community On Demand Gatherversity aims to restore soil health and promote eco-friendly farming techniques.

Project Overview

Participants will work hands-on to:

  • Implement regenerative farming techniques (cover cropping, no-till farming, crop rotation)
  • Develop composting programs to reduce waste
  • Use GIS mapping and environmental sensors to monitor soil health

By engaging in science-driven strategies to restore soil fertility, this project supports long-term food security and ecosystem resilience.

Skills Developed

This project will help students gain expertise in:
✅ Soil Science & Sustainable Agriculture
✅ GIS Mapping & Data Analysis
✅ Environmental Planning & Conservation
✅ Composting & Carbon Sequestration Strategies

Deliverables

Participants will contribute to:
📊 A comprehensive soil health report for local farms
📖 A composting implementation guide
🌿 A case study on regenerative farming impacts

By focusing on long-term soil health and sustainable practices, this initiative equips future leaders in agriculture, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
