The Smith Family Ranch, nestled in the heart of Stockbridge, GA, has embarked on an exciting journey to transform their 42-acre property into a hub of education, engagement, and entertainment for the community.
To bring their vision to life, they partnered with NEXT Steps for a three-month project. NEXT Steps will provide The Smith Family Ranch with a business plan based upon our Community On Demand AgVenture Games Series. This collaboration will use our (Agricultural Technologies With Open Outdoor Designs (ATWOOD) Model to tailor for their land, secure Georgia Agritourism signage to promote the farm on major highways, secure an EQIP grant and other FSA/USDA funding opportunities, register them in the Georgia Women In Ag Beginning Ranchers & Farmers Program, and develop comprehensive agritourism programs and land use strategies.
Our work focuses on integrating education and training, direct sales, hospitality & tourism, entertainment, and outdoor recreation into ranch and garden operations. These workforce development strategies and initiatives provide career-building opportunities for JEM Teams (Junior Executive Management Teams) to thrive by allowing them to use their skills to create a sustainable creative economy that benefits the surrounding community.
Launching with Impact: MLK Day Volunteer Event 2024
We kicked off this transformative partnership with the ranch’s first-ever MLK Day Volunteer Event on January 15, 2024. The event was a resounding success, bringing together 75 volunteers from all over the county to lend a helping hand. Volunteers participated in various tasks, including designing and installing elements of the ATWOOD Model, beautifying the property, and planting the seeds for a flourishing community hub.
Our VIP JEM Team made the day even more special by designing exclusive merchandise to commemorate the event. Their creativity not only celebrated this milestone but also showcased the leadership and entrepreneurial skills that our programs aim to develop.
