The Community On Demand Game-Based Learning Management System: A Unified Learning Framework Through Three Phases
I developed the Community On Demand™ Game-Based Learning Management System (LMS) because I believe education is most powerful when it aligns with personal, professional, and community development goals. Based on the best practices of what made my farm successful, Community On Demand offers you a clear, cohesive learning journey in three phases that ties courses, tools, and activities into one integrated framework.
Phase 1: Foundation – SIP Certification & Skills Self-Assessment
Every great journey starts with a strong foundation. In this phase, you gain essential skills in decision-making, critical thinking, and collaboration. You will also conduct a skills self-assessment to identify your strengths, weaknesses, and areas for growth as you create a roadmap for your personal and professional development.
Intro: The STEAM Investigative Process Certification
First, you are introduced to The STEAM Investigative Process (SIP) course series. This three-part series helps you build your own decision-making framework so you can gain greater self-awareness of your skillset and measure your level of readiness for future projects.
The SIP Certification course series includes:
- The Strategist Mindset: Learn how to align your approach with your purpose.
- The SIP Roadmap: Master the five phases of decision-making: research, design, plan, coordinate, and evaluate.
- The SIP Grid: Collaborate effectively by mapping different mindsets and strategies.
Activities: Skills Self-Assessment
Once you define your unique STEAM Investigative Process, you will use the Community On Demand™ Skills Self-Assessment worksheet or game board to conduct a skills assessment and evaluate your current skillset. This worksheet helps you identify and categorize over 69 skills as "Skills I Have & Use", "Skills I Have But Don’t Use", or "Skills I Don’t Have" to identify gaps and opportunities for growth. It also helps you build a personal skill map that can serve as a guide throughout your learning journey.
Why It Matters
Your SIP decision-making framework is a personal roadmap and serves as the foundation of your strategic planning process. It will be used to guide you through the challenges and opportunities that arise in future projects and coursework. By starting with a skills self-assessment, your gain a clear understanding of where you stand and how to align your learning with your personal and professional goals. Combined with your SIP Certification, you’re now equipped to make smarter decisions, collaborate effectively, and tackle complex challenges with confidence.
